About the book of Esther
The book of Esther takes place in the great Persian empire. A young Jewish woman called Esther was chosen to be queen by King Xerxes.
When a wicked man called Haman plotted to destroy all the Jewish people, Esther's cousin Mordecai asked her to help. Going to the king without being invited could mean death, but Esther bravely went anyway.
God's name isn't mentioned in the book of Esther, but we can see Him working behind the scenes to protect His people. Jewish people still celebrate this story every year at the festival of Purim.
