About Esther
Esther was an orphan, brought up by her cousin Mordecai. She was chosen to be queen by King Xerxes of Persia.
When her people were in danger, Mordecai told her she might have become queen "for such a time as this". Esther asked everyone to pray, then bravely went to the king without being invited — something that could have cost her life.
The king welcomed her, and Esther's courage saved the Jewish people.
