About the book of Numbers

The book of Numbers gets its name from the times Moses counted the people of Israel. It tells the story of their long journey through the wilderness after they escaped from Egypt.

It includes the twelve spies who brought back giant grapes from the Promised Land, Aaron's staff that grew almonds, and the funny story of Balaam's talking donkey.

Numbers also contains a promise about the future: "A star will come out of Jacob" — a hint about the King God would one day send.
