Rebuilding the Walls of Jerusalem
Nehemiah 4:6
About the book of Nehemiah
Nehemiah served the king of Persia, bringing him his wine. When he heard that the walls of Jerusalem were still broken down, he was very sad, and he prayed. Then he bravely asked the king if he could go and rebuild them, and the king said yes.
In Jerusalem, Nehemiah got everyone working together, with each family building its own part of the wall. Some people laughed at them and tried to stop them, but they kept praying and kept working. The wall was finished in just 52 days!
Afterwards, Ezra the priest read God's law aloud to all the people. They listened carefully, and the leaders told them to celebrate, because the joy of the LORD was their strength.
