“So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem and looked carefully at the broken walls. He told the people that God would help them rebuild. Families and neighbours began working together.
Some carried stones, and others repaired the gates and wall. Each person helped with part of the work. The wall grew higher as the people kept working.
Nehemiah encouraged them to keep going. The people worked with all their hearts, and they joined the wall together. Their teamwork helped make the city safer again.
Questions to ask
- What are the people building?
- Who is working with Nehemiah?
- How did the people help one another rebuild the wall?
