Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
A large crowd had come to hear Jesus. As evening came, Jesus asked Philip where they could buy bread for everyone. Philip wondered how they could feed so many people.
Andrew brought a boy to Jesus. The boy had five small barley loaves and two fish. It did not look like enough for the crowd, but he was willing to share what he had. Jesus thanked God for the food.
Jesus gave the bread and fish to the disciples, who shared it with the people. Everyone ate as much as they wanted. The small lunch became a meal for thousands, and the disciples gathered the food that was left.
Questions to ask
- What food did the boy bring?
- Who brought the boy to Jesus?
- Why do you think the disciples gathered the leftovers?
