About the story
Nehemiah heard that Jerusalem’s walls were broken. He prayed and asked the king of Persia for permission to go and rebuild them. The king agreed, and Nehemiah travelled to Jerusalem. Families and neighbours worked together to repair the wall.
Later, Ezra the teacher read God’s law to the people. Helpers explained the words so everyone could understand. The people listened and praised God together.
Nehemiah helped the people rebuild their city, and Ezra helped them learn God’s word. Their stories show people working together and listening to God.
