About Barnabas
Barnabas was a believer in Jesus who lived in the early church. His name means "son of encouragement." He came from Cyprus and was also called Joses. The apostles trusted him as a helper.
The believers in Jerusalem shared what they had so that people in need could be cared for. Barnabas owned a field. He sold it and brought the money to the apostles to share with the community.
Barnabas later travelled with Paul to tell people about Jesus. He welcomed new believers and helped them join the church. His generous gift and encouraging work made his name a fitting one.
