About the story
After Jesus returned to heaven, his friends gathered in Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit gave them courage to tell people about Jesus. Peter and John met a man who could not walk at the temple gate. Peter helped him stand, and the people praised God.
The believers shared what they had. Barnabas sold a field and brought the money to the apostles to help those in need. Philip travelled south and explained the good news about Jesus to a man from Ethiopia. The man believed and was baptised.
God also taught Peter that the good news was for people from every nation. Peter visited Cornelius and spoke with his family. Later, an angel helped Peter leave prison, and a girl named Rhoda was so surprised to hear him at the door that she ran to tell the others before opening it. The early church grew as people shared, learned, and helped one another.
