Memory verse
“A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Peter went up to the roof to pray while a meal was being prepared. He became hungry and saw a vision. A large sheet came down from heaven, held by its four corners. It contained many kinds of animals, birds, and crawling creatures.
A voice told Peter to get up, kill, and eat. Peter replied that he had never eaten anything common or unclean. The voice answered that Peter should not call unclean what God had made clean. This happened three times, and then the sheet was taken back up.
Peter wondered what the vision meant. Just then, messengers from Cornelius arrived. Cornelius was a Roman officer who wanted Peter to visit. Peter began to understand that God was showing him not to treat people from other nations as unclean. He went to Cornelius's home and told his family about Jesus. The vision helped Peter see that the good news was for everyone.
Questions to ask
- What animals do you see on the sheet?
- Where was Peter praying when he saw the vision?
- What did Peter learn about welcoming people from other nations?
