Memory verse
“Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which when translated means Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Dorcas, also called Tabitha, lived in Joppa. She followed Jesus and was known for doing good things and helping people. She made tunics and other clothes for widows who needed them.
One day Dorcas became ill and died. Her friends washed her and laid her in an upstairs room. They heard that Peter was nearby in Lydda, so they sent two men to ask him to come quickly.
When Peter arrived, the widows stood around him crying. They showed him the clothes Dorcas had made while she was with them. Peter asked everyone to leave the room. He knelt and prayed, then called, "Tabitha, get up!" She opened her eyes and sat up. Peter gave her his hand and helped her stand. He called the believers and widows back in, and they saw that she was alive. Many people in Joppa heard and believed in the Lord.
