About the story
Jesus told a story about a father and his two sons. The younger son asked for his share of the family's money, then travelled far away and spent it all. When a famine came, he had no food. He found work feeding pigs and decided to return home.
While the son was still far away, his father ran to meet him and welcomed him with a hug. The father gave him good clothes and prepared a celebration. The older son was upset, but his father reminded him that he was always loved.
Jesus used the story to show that God welcomes people who turn back to him.
