A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
After the younger son had spent his money, a famine came to the land. He was hungry and had to find work. A farmer sent him to feed the pigs.
The son was so hungry that even the pigs' food looked good to him. He remembered that people who worked for his father had plenty to eat. He decided to go home and say he was sorry.
The son made a plan to return. He knew he had made a mistake, but he hoped his father would let him come back as a worker.
Questions to ask
- What animals are in the pen?
- What is the son giving the pigs?
- What made the son think about going home?
