About Parables of Jesus
A parable is a short story that teaches something important. Jesus often used parables, taking everyday things that people knew about, such as farming, sheep and coins, to help them understand God.
He told of a farmer scattering seeds, a shepherd searching for one lost sheep, a woman sweeping her house for a lost coin, and a Samaritan who stopped to help a hurt traveller.
The parables show us what God is like and how He wants us to live: God loves each one of us and never stops looking for us, and He wants us to care for others too.
