About Eli
Eli was an old priest who served God at the place of worship in Shiloh. One day he saw a woman called Hannah praying there, very upset. When she told him why, he blessed her and asked God to answer her prayer.
God gave Hannah a son, Samuel, and she brought him to live with Eli and help him. Eli looked after the boy as he grew up.
One night Samuel heard a voice calling his name and ran to Eli, thinking it was him. Eli realised that God was calling Samuel, and he showed him how to answer and listen.
