Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
One night Samuel was sleeping in the temple. He heard someone call his name and ran to Eli. Eli told him that he had not called. This happened again, and Eli realized God was calling Samuel.
Eli told Samuel to answer, "Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening." Samuel went back to bed. When God called again, Samuel answered just as Eli had taught him.
God spoke to Samuel, and Samuel listened. He grew up to serve God and share God's messages with the people.
Questions to ask
- What is beside Samuel's bed?
- Who does Samuel speak with?
- What did Eli tell Samuel to say when God called again?
