Memory verse
“Samson called to the LORD, and said, “Lord GOD, remember me, please, and strengthen me, please, only this once, God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Samson was captured by the Philistines, and his hair was cut. After it began to grow again, the Philistines brought him to a large building to make fun of him. Samson asked God to remember him and give him strength once more. He placed his hands against the two central pillars and prayed. The building was full of people, so this story ends sadly. We can tell it gently by focusing on Samson praying and the strong pillars beside him. The Bible says Samson pushed against the pillars and the building fell. His story reminds us that choices have serious consequences.
Questions to ask
- What is Samson doing?
- How many pillars can you see beside Samson?
- What did Samson ask God for in his prayer?
