About the story

A man was walking from Jerusalem to Jericho when robbers took his things and left him beside the road. A priest passed by, and then another man passed by too. Neither stopped to help.

A Samaritan came along and saw the traveler. He stopped, gently cared for him, and helped him onto his donkey. He brought the traveler to an inn and stayed to look after him. The next day he paid the innkeeper to continue caring for the traveler and promised to return.

Jesus asked who had acted like a neighbour. It was the one who showed mercy. Jesus told people to go and do likewise.
