About Mordecai
Mordecai was a Jewish man who lived in the Persian city of Susa. He had a young cousin named Esther whose parents had died, so Mordecai raised her as his own daughter. He reminded Esther to keep her Jewish identity private when she went to the palace.
One day Mordecai learned of a plan that threatened the Jews. He sent word to Esther and asked her to speak to the king, even though it was risky. Mordecai trusted that help could come, and Esther chose to act.
Later, the king learned that Mordecai had once helped protect him. Mordecai was dressed in royal clothing and led through the city on the king's horse. He continued to care for the Jewish people and became an honoured leader among them.
