Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
The teacher in Ecclesiastes said there is a time to plant. A farmer loosens the soil, places seeds in the ground and covers them gently. The seeds are small, but with sunshine and rain they can grow into plants.
Planting takes patience. The farmer cannot pull up a plant to make it grow faster. He waters the garden and waits. After a while, green shoots appear, and later the plants may give food to share.
The Bible poem reminds us that life has different seasons. Planting is one of them. We can do our part, care for what is growing and thank God for the good things that come in time.
Questions to ask
- What is growing in the soil?
- What tools could help someone plant a garden?
- Why do you think planting and waiting are both important?
