Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

The teacher in Ecclesiastes wrote that there is a time to break down and a time to build up. Builders prepare a place, gather what they need and put each piece where it belongs. Little by little, a wall or a home takes shape.

Building can be a job people do together. One person can carry a block while another finds a good place for it. Everyone can help in a way that is safe and suited to them.

The poem reminds us that life has changing seasons. Some things need repairing or replacing, and other things need care so they can grow stronger. We can ask God for wisdom and work patiently as we build up what is good.

Questions to ask

  1. What is being built?
  2. What could you use to build a small wall?
  3. What are some good things people can build together besides a wall?
