Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
The teacher in Ecclesiastes noticed that people do not feel the same way every day. There is a time to cry when something sad happens, and there is a time to laugh when something brings joy. Both kinds of days are part of life.
The poem also speaks about mourning and dancing. When people are sad, friends can sit with them and listen. When there is a reason to celebrate, people can sing, clap or dance together.
God knows our happy times and our difficult times. We can talk to God about both. We can also care for one another by staying close when someone is sad and sharing joy when something good happens.
Questions to ask
- What are the children doing?
- What makes you laugh or feel joyful?
- How can you help a friend who is having a sad day?
