“Out of the ground the LORD God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
God had made many kinds of animals and birds. He brought them to Adam, and Adam looked at each one and gave it a name. The Bible tells us that the animals came from the ground and that Adam named every living creature.
Imagine seeing a camel, a sheep and birds coming near. Adam had a big job, and each animal was different. He could notice its shape, its sounds and the way it moved.
The story shows the variety of living things God made. We can learn about animals too, and treat them with care. Adam's work reminds us to notice the creatures around us and look after them.
Questions to ask
- Which animal can you see?
- What names would you give these animals?
- What are some ways people can care for animals today?
