About the story

On the Thursday before Easter, Jesus shared a special Passover meal with His twelve disciples in an upstairs room.

First, Jesus washed His disciples' feet, showing them how to serve each other. He gave them a new command: "Love one another, as I have loved you." Then He shared bread and wine, asking them to remember Him.

Afterwards they went to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed. That night He was arrested, and Peter said three times that he didn't know Jesus — just before the rooster crowed.
