About the book of 1 Kings
The book of 1 Kings begins with Solomon, the son of King David. When God asked what gift he wanted, Solomon asked for wisdom to lead the people well. God was pleased and made him famous for his wise decisions.
Solomon built a beautiful temple for God in Jerusalem, and people came from far away to hear his wisdom, including the Queen of Sheba.
Later, Solomon and many of the kings after him turned away from God, and the kingdom split into two. God kept speaking to His people through prophets such as Elijah, calling them back to Him.
