A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Solomon began building a temple in Jerusalem where people could worship God. Workers shaped stones and prepared wood. Many people helped with the building.
Solomon wanted the temple to be a special place for the people to pray and worship. The work took several years. When the temple was finished, Solomon gathered the people and prayed to God.
The people celebrated together. Solomon thanked God for keeping his promises to David and for giving the people a place to worship.
Questions to ask
- What are the people building?
- Who is watching the builders?
- Why did Solomon build the temple?
