“All Israel heard of the judgement which the king had judged; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Two women came to King Solomon with a baby. Both said the child was theirs. Solomon listened carefully to each woman and asked for a wise way to discover the truth.
One woman showed that she loved the baby by asking Solomon to give the child to the other woman rather than let the baby be hurt. Solomon knew she was the baby’s mother and gave the child back to her.
The people saw that God had given Solomon wisdom to make a fair decision. The story shows how love and careful listening can help us understand what is right.
Questions to ask
- Who is holding the baby?
- What did Solomon do with the baby?
- How did Solomon discover who was the baby’s mother?
