About the book of Ruth
The book of Ruth is a short story set in the time of the judges. Naomi lost her husband and both her sons, and decided to go home to Bethlehem. Her daughter-in-law Ruth refused to leave her, saying, "Where you go, I will go, and your God will be my God."
In Bethlehem, Ruth gathered leftover grain in the fields to feed them both. The field belonged to Boaz, a kind man who made sure she had plenty and looked after her.
Boaz married Ruth, and they had a baby boy called Obed. Naomi was full of joy again. Obed grew up to be the grandfather of King David, so Ruth became part of the family line of Jesus.
