Memory verse
“The women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you today without a near kinsman. Let his name be famous in Israel.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Ruth and Boaz married, and they had a baby boy named Obed. Naomi was delighted and cared for the child. The women of Bethlehem celebrated with her and thanked God for giving Naomi a family to love. They said that the child would bring new joy to her life. Obed grew up to be the grandfather of King David. Much later, Jesus was born into David's family. Ruth had come to Bethlehem as a stranger, but she became part of Naomi's family and of a very important family line. The story ends with the neighbours celebrating the new baby and Naomi holding him close.
Questions to ask
- Who is holding the baby?
- What did Ruth and Boaz name their son?
- How was Obed connected to King David?
