A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
The father celebrated because his younger son had come home. He said his son had been lost and was found. The family prepared a special meal and began celebrating.
The older son heard music and learned what had happened. He was upset and did not want to join the party. His father went outside to speak with him.
The father reminded his older son that he was always loved and had a home. He explained that they were celebrating because his younger brother had returned. Jesus' story shows a father who welcomes and forgives.
