““He arose and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him.”

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
The younger son started home, hoping his father would forgive him. While he was still far away, his father saw him coming. The father ran to meet his son and hugged him.
The son began to say he was sorry. But his father was so glad to have him home. He called for good clothes and shoes, and he put a ring on his son's hand.
The father welcomed the son as family again. Jesus told this story to show how glad God is when people turn back to him.
Questions to ask
- Who is running to the son?
- What does the father do when he meets him?
