Naomi planned to return to Bethlehem after a difficult time away from home. Her daughter-in-law Ruth chose to go with her. Ruth told Naomi that she would stay beside her wherever she went. The two women began the long journey together. They walked along the road toward Bethlehem, leaving Moab behind. Ruth promised to make Naomi's people her people and to worship Naomi's God. When they arrived, the people of Bethlehem recognised Naomi. Ruth stayed close to her and helped her begin again in her home town. Their journey brought them to a new place, where Ruth would find work gathering grain and meet Boaz.
