A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Ruth and Naomi had arrived in Bethlehem with very little. Ruth went to a field to gather leftover grain so they would have food. The landowner let people who needed help collect stalks the harvesters had dropped. Ruth worked carefully behind the reapers. She happened to gather grain in a field that belonged to Boaz, a relative of Naomi's late husband. Boaz would soon learn who Ruth was and how kindly she had stayed with Naomi. Ruth carried the grain home to share with Naomi. Her hard work helped provide for them, and the field became the place where she met Boaz.
Questions to ask
- What did Ruth gather?
- Who owned the field where Ruth worked?
