Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that troubled him. He wanted someone to tell him what it meant, but none of his wise men could explain it. Daniel asked God for help, and God showed Daniel the dream and its meaning.

Daniel went to the king and said that God in heaven had revealed the secret. He described a huge statue with a head, chest, middle, legs and feet made of different materials. The statue represented kingdoms that would rise and fall.

Daniel did not claim the wisdom for himself. He told the king that God had made the dream known. The king was amazed and gave Daniel an important place in Babylon. Daniel's story reminds us to ask God for wisdom and give thanks when we receive help.

Questions to ask

  1. What is Daniel describing?
  2. What did Daniel ask God to help him understand?
