The story behind this colouring sheet
When David was a shepherd, he had to keep his sheep safe from wild animals.
Once, a lion came and grabbed a lamb from the flock! David ran after it and rescued the lamb. Another time it was a bear — and David rescued the sheep from the bear too.
David knew he wasn't strong enough on his own. It was God who had helped him.
Later, when David faced the giant Goliath, he remembered: "The Lord who saved me from the lion and the bear will save me again." A good shepherd protects his sheep — just like God protects us.
Talk about it
- Which two wild animals did David face?
- Who helped David to be brave?
- Jesus is called the Good Shepherd. How does He look after us like David looked after his sheep?
