The story behind this colouring sheet
David was the youngest of eight brothers. His job was to look after his father's sheep in the fields near Bethlehem.
It was not an important job, and David was only a boy. But David loved God, and while he watched the sheep, he played music and sang songs to God.
One day God sent the prophet Samuel to David's family to choose a new king. Samuel thought one of the tall, strong older brothers must be the one. But God said, "People look at the outside, but I look at the heart."
God chose David — the shepherd boy with a heart that loved Him.
