“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the middle of his brothers.”
The story behind this colouring sheet
Samuel looked at each of Jesse's sons, one after another. Seven tall, strong young men — but God said no to every one.
"Are these all your sons?" Samuel asked. "There is still the youngest," said Jesse. "He's looking after the sheep."
They sent for David. As soon as he came in, God said to Samuel, "This is the one!"
So Samuel took a horn full of oil and poured it on David's head, in front of all his brothers. This was called anointing, and it showed that God had chosen David to be the next king. From that day on, God's Spirit was with David in a powerful way.
Talk about it
- What did Samuel pour on David's head?
- How many older brothers did David have?
- God chose the youngest brother. Do you think God can use young people today?
