About David
David was the youngest son of Jesse from Bethlehem. As a boy he looked after his father's sheep, protecting them from lions and bears.
God chose David to be king because He looked at David's heart. Young David bravely faced the giant Goliath, trusting God, and won with a sling and a stone.
David became a great king of Israel. He loved music and wrote many of the psalms, including Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd." Jesus was born into David's family many years later.
