Jesus was teaching in a house, and so many people came that there was no room left, even outside the door. Four friends brought a man who could not walk, hoping Jesus would help him.
They could not get through the crowd, so they carried him up to the roof. They made an opening and carefully lowered his mat down in front of Jesus. Jesus saw how much the friends trusted him.
Jesus told the man that his sins were forgiven. Some teachers there wondered about Jesus' words. Jesus then told the man to get up, pick up his mat and go home. The man stood up, took his mat and walked out while everyone watched.
