Jesus went with James and John to the home of Simon Peter and Andrew. Peter's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and the family told Jesus about her.
Jesus went to her, took her hand and helped her sit up. The fever left her, and she was well again. She got up and began serving the visitors.
The healing happened at home, with her family nearby. Later, many people came to the house, bringing others who were sick or troubled. Jesus helped them too. Peter's mother-in-law was able to return to the things she wanted to do.
