“A champion out of the camp of the Philistines named Goliath of Gath”
The story behind this colouring sheet
The Israelites were at war with the Philistines. The two armies camped on two hills, with a valley in between.
Every day a giant called Goliath came out from the Philistine army. He was about three metres tall — taller than a ceiling! He wore heavy bronze armour and carried a huge spear.
"Send someone to fight me!" he shouted. "If he wins, we'll be your servants."
King Saul and all the soldiers of Israel were terrified. For forty days, nobody dared to fight him. They had forgotten how big their God was.
Talk about it
- Is Goliath big or small?
- Why were the soldiers so scared?
- What "giant" problems make you feel scared, and how could God help?
