The story behind this colouring sheet
John's Gospel tells the Christmas story in a very different way from Luke and Matthew. Instead of shepherds and wise men, John goes all the way back to the very beginning.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John calls Jesus "the Word". Before the world was made, Jesus was already there with God. Everything was made through Him.
Then John says something astonishing: "The Word became a human being and lived among us."
At Christmas, the One who made the stars came to live on the earth He had made, as a tiny baby.
Talk about it
- Can you find the stable in the picture?
- What does John call Jesus?
- Jesus made the whole world and then came to live in it. How does that make you feel about Christmas?
