A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
After a busy day teaching, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat to cross the lake. Jesus lay down at the back of the boat and fell asleep on a cushion.
A strong wind began to blow. Waves splashed into the boat, and the disciples worried as the water rose around them. They woke Jesus and asked if he cared that they were in danger.
Jesus got up. He was still with them in the boat, even when the crossing became difficult. He spoke to the wind and waves, and they became calm. The disciples were amazed that the wind and water obeyed him.
Questions to ask
- Where was Jesus sleeping?
- What did the disciples do when the waves grew?
- How might the disciples have felt when the wind grew strong?
