“He awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus woke up in the boat and spoke to the wind and the sea. He said, "Peace! Be still!" The wind stopped, and the water became calm.
The disciples had been frightened by the strong wind and waves. Now they looked around at the quiet water and wondered who Jesus was, because even the wind and sea obeyed him.
The boat had been crossing the lake after a day of teaching. Jesus had been asleep while the wind grew strong, but he was with the disciples throughout the journey. When he spoke, the storm stopped. The disciples saw that Jesus had power over the wind and water.
Questions to ask
- What did Jesus say to the sea?
- What happened after Jesus spoke?
- Why were the disciples amazed after the storm stopped?
