Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus reached the place where Zacchaeus had climbed a tree to see him. He looked up and called Zacchaeus by name. Jesus told him to hurry down because he wanted to stay at Zacchaeus's house that day.
Zacchaeus climbed down quickly and welcomed Jesus with joy. Some people in the crowd grumbled because Zacchaeus collected taxes and they thought he was a sinner.
Jesus chose to visit Zacchaeus, and their meeting changed what Zacchaeus wanted to do. He promised to give half of his possessions to the poor and repay anyone he had cheated four times as much. Jesus said he had come to seek and save the lost.
Questions to ask
- Where was Zacchaeus sitting?
- What did Jesus ask Zacchaeus to do?
- What did Zacchaeus promise to do after meeting Jesus?
