Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

After Jesus was baptised, the Holy Spirit led him into the wilderness. Jesus stayed there for forty days and nights and did not eat. He prayed and trusted God.

The devil tested Jesus and told him to use his power to turn stones into bread. Jesus was very hungry, but he did not do it. He answered with words from Scripture: people need God's words even more than food.

Jesus showed that he trusted his Father and would obey him. The wilderness was a quiet, rocky place, far from towns and homes. Jesus stayed faithful through the test, and God's word helped him answer wisely.

Questions to ask

  1. Where was Jesus after he was baptised?
  2. What did the devil ask Jesus to do with the stones?
  3. What did Jesus say people need more than bread?
