A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee when he saw two brothers, Simon Peter and Andrew. They were fishermen, casting a net into the water. Jesus called to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers for people."
The brothers left their nets and followed him. A little farther along the shore, Jesus saw two more brothers, James and John, in a boat with their father. They were mending their nets. Jesus called them too.
The four fishermen left their boats and nets to travel with Jesus. They became his disciples and learned from him as they went from place to place.
Questions to ask
- What were Peter and Andrew doing?
- What did Jesus invite the fishermen to become?
- What do you think it means to be a fisher of people?
