About the book of Matthew
Matthew was a tax collector who left his job to follow Jesus and became one of the twelve disciples. His book is the first of the four Gospels in the New Testament.
Matthew loved to show how Jesus fulfilled the promises God had made long ago. His Christmas story includes Joseph's dreams, the wise men following the star, and the escape to Egypt.
Matthew also gives us the Sermon on the Mount, with the Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer, many of Jesus' parables, and Jesus walking on water.
