The story behind this colouring sheet
You might think Jonah would be happy that Nineveh was saved. But he was cross! He didn't think Nineveh deserved God's kindness.
Jonah sat on a hill outside the city to sulk. It was very hot, so God made a leafy vine grow up to give him shade. Jonah was pleased with the vine.
But the next day, God sent a worm to eat the vine, and it withered. Jonah was hot and grumpy again.
God said, "You cared about a plant. Shouldn't I care about a whole city full of people?" God loves everyone — even people we find hard to love.
Talk about it
- Is Jonah happy or grumpy in the picture?
- What did God send to eat the vine?
- God loves everyone. Is there someone you find hard to be kind to?
