Memory verse

“But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty storm on the sea, so that the ship was likely to break up.”
Jonah 1:4 · WEBBE

The story behind this colouring sheet

Soon after the ship set sail, God sent a huge wind. A terrible storm crashed over the sea. The waves were so big that the ship was about to break apart!

The sailors were terrified. They threw cargo overboard to make the ship lighter, and each one prayed to his own god.

And where was Jonah? Fast asleep below deck! The captain woke him up: "Get up and pray to your God!"

Jonah knew the storm was his fault. "Throw me into the sea," he told the sailors, "and it will become calm."

Talk about it

  1. What is happening to the ship?
  2. Where was Jonah during the storm?
  3. Jonah admitted the storm was his fault. Why is it important to own up when we do wrong?
